This is why you should not drink and drive. I crashed this car, an EA Ford Falcon, by myself back in 2006 after 2 bottles of Jim Beam after leaving a friends 21st birthday party at around 1-2am.
I have no memory of the accident but they tell me I hit a parked parked car at 120km/h (75mph), with no signs of breaking, I rolled the car 4 times and not the normal way, I rolled end to end, bonnet to boot in between the parked cars and houses. I came to a stop upside down on someone front lawn somewhere around 75-100m (245-328ft) from the original crash site.
I remember coming to upside down in a crawl space I felt around and I was wearing a seat belt and I felt in front of me and there was a steering wheel so I knew right then I had crashed my car. I tried to get out and my feet were stuck as the engine had pushed the firewall back so far it had crushed the foot well, but after I pulled my feet out of my shoes I managed to get them out. Then I tried to open the door, no dice, so I tried to get out the window but the roof was pushed down so far I could not fit through the window hole. That is all I remember, the police found me passed out next to the car and the back door was open so that’s how I got out.
I only had a scratch on my left foot and one on my right shoulder, no broken bones or bad bruising. I almost went to jail for dangerous driving but ended up with my licence suspended for 3 years and a $2500 fine.
I was very lucky as you can see from the pics, I mean the steering wheel was bent from where the road hit it and I was holding onto that; the last two pics are of where I was sitting, the last one was taken from just behind the drivers seat (cars are right hand drive in Australia, also there’s a small description of the pics when you click on them).
This is nothing to be proud of, I’d just thought I share.
